The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern Medical Center)
A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Stephen Chung, (Stephen Chung, M.D., Internal Medicine | Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), in the department of internal medicine, division of hematology/oncology at UT Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center to study hematopoiesis, leukemia, and bone marrow failure syndromes.
Specific areas of interest include the study of disease stem cells in acute myeloid leukemia and the myelodysplastic syndromes, as well as hematopoietic stem cell biology in the context of clonal hematopoiesis.
Our laboratory has several exciting projects leveraging cutting-edge technologies to study in vitro and in vivo models of hematopoiesis, with extensive use of mouse models of disease and stem cell transplantation assays.
We also study primary patient specimens derived from the clinical programs at UTSW in xenotransplantation models. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with the rich community of basic and translational scientists at UTSW, as well as a team of medical oncologists specializing in hematologic malignancies.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and should possess strong laboratory and analytical skills, a record of peer-reviewed publications, and proficiency in oral and written scientific presentations.
Applicants with prior experience in hematopoiesis and stem cell biology are particularly encouraged to apply, but we will also consider candidates with strong backgrounds in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, and immunology.
Information on our postdoctoral training program and benefits can be found in our Postdoc Handbook or at http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/postdocs.
