A postdoctoral or visiting scholar position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Peisong Gao in the Johns Hopkins Asthma and Allergy Center at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. 

This position will lead basic translational research studies in understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of environmental allergen-induced allergy and asthma by integrating mouse models with ex vivo/in vitro analyses. 

The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunity to lead scientific projects and participate in grant writing, mentoring undergraduate, graduate students, and visiting scholars. 

Several primary projects for this position include: 

• Tracing mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from the bone marrow and blood circulation to the airways to participate in airway inflammation and remodeling,
• Using decorated exosomes with RNA nanoparticles to suppress allergic airway inflammation and asthma,
• Mechanistic studies on the synergistic effects for the environmental allergens and pollutants.

Specification

Techniques used in these studies include multi-parameter flow cytometry and cell sorting, mass cytometry data acquisition and analysis, single cell RNA sequencing, confocal microscopy, ex vivo cellular assays, and extracellular vesicles.

Qualifications:  

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent, be scientifically curious, highly motivated, intellectually committed and capable of working independently.  Strong communication and writing skills are essential.
