Assistant Researcher In Cancer Research

The Institute of Clinical Sciences, Department of Suregry at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg invites applicants for assistant researcher, with placement in a research group at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research (SCCR). The research group investigates the role and interplay of endogenous and exogenous antioxidants, cell metabolism and the immune system in relation to tumorigenesis with aim to develop new therapies to block cancer progression and metastasis.
Job assignments
Tasks include to design and perform experiments on cancer cells in tissue culture and on mouse models for cancer. This includes e.g. organizing mice breeding and genotyping, isolation of RNA and DNA, performing real-time PCR, western blot analysis, and genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9. The work also involves reading and interpreting primary scientific literature within this research field, conducting basic statistical analysis, and having ability to communicate with other lab members in the laboratory and at meeting presentations.
Qualifications
To qualify as a associate researcher the applicant should hold a Master degree with a focus on cell and molecular biology or systems biology. The person must have a well-developed knowledge of cancer models and must have practical documented experience from work with genetically engineered mice. Knowledge and practical documented experience with bioinformatics is desirable and a strong merit. The work demands drive, independence, and accuracy. Great emphasis will be put on personal suitability, commitment, initiative and cooperative and organizational skills.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 24 months, 100 % of full-time and is placed at The Institute of Clinical Sciences, The Department of Surgery. Starting date; As early as possible
