Join the University of Wisconsin-Madison, home of one of the largest and most premier Geriatrics & Gerontology divisions in the country. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Geriatrics is proudly one of the primary disciplines within the Department of Medicine at the School of Medicine and Public Health.
A major focus of our enterprise is to promote and support research focused on the Biology of Aging. To this end, we have launched a national search to fill a new tenure-track research faculty position in the general field of Biology of Aging or Geroscience.
Desired qualifications of the position:
Ph.D. Or MD/Ph.D. with emphasis in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, or molecular studies is required
Minimum of 3 years experience as a postdoctoral fellow working in the field of Biology of Aging, disease vulnerability as a function of age, or diseases of age
Expertise within age-related sub-disciplines such as metabolism, proteostasis, epigenetics, or senescence
Candidates must be engaged in mechanistic research and those with existing extramural support will receive special attention.
Major mission of the position:
Develop an independently funded, collaborative research program in Biology of Aging/Geroscience that complements the existing strengths in aging research programs
Serve in a Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) Madison VA Medical Center appointment, which will provide salary support and access to research funding and resources of both the US Department of Veterans Affairs and Madison Veterans Affairs Medical Center
Collaborate with faculty across the Department of Medicine and UW and participate in interdisciplinary research and training in aging. Translational programs welcome
The position duties will include conducting research, preparing grant applications, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications, mentoring graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, teaching, and participating in professional, public, and university service.
