An opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic team of scientists based at the University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. The post is funded by the BBSRC and will join a research group applying next generation phage display to map IgG responses to viral infections with the aim of developing novel serodiagnostics. The project focusses on emerging zoonotic pathogens in livestock, identifying pools of phage-peptide reagents that mimic viral epitopes and then applying them to the multiplexed detection of specific immune responses to infection.
The successful candidate will contribute to studies of the mapping of immune responses to infections using NGPD. They will carry out serum neutralisation tests/ELISAs, phage display panning, clone target peptide genes into a phagemid display vector, develop and apply bioinformatic tools to analyse NGS data and develop and characterise serological assays. They will also contribute to writing research papers and new grants to support phage display technology research within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. The study is located at the Sutton Bonington campus of the University of Nottingham.
The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract until 30th June 2022. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Kevin Gough, Kevin.gough@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
