Background Information
The Centre of Precision Rehabilitation for Spinal Pain within the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Birmingham is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow funded by the NIHR SRMRC.
The appointed candidate will be expected to have ambition to participate in one of the UK’s strongest research Schools, maintaining our strengths as a leading research-led teaching department, capturing external research funding, and publishing work of the highest academic quality and impact.
The Research Fellow will work on a project which aims to better understand acute post-traumatic pain and prognosis in relation to the development of ongoing pain and disability. Moreover, to utilise this knowledge to develop and evaluate the feasibility of incorporating timely interventions for concomitant physical functioning and psychological health to prevent and/or reverse processes that mediate the transition from acute to chronic pain. The Research Fellow will specifically work on conducting systematic reviews on early interventions following musculoskeletal trauma and the role of post- trauma stress symptoms in the development of persistent disabling pain.
The appointee will have experience conducting systematic reviews. The candidate is expected to have a track record of publications demonstrating this experience.
