University of Konstanz
(fulltime, E 13 TV-L)
Reference No. 2021/309. In principle, the positions can be divided into two part-time positions.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
Applications are invited for three Postdoctoral positions starting as soon as possible or upon mutual agreement in Condensed Matter Theory and Quantum Information. The positions are limited-term for 3 years and are part of the research programs funded within the quantum technology initiative by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Your Responsibilities
•Theoretical modelling of solid-state quantum processors
•E.g. disordered Si/Ge hetero-interfaces and their effect on the valley splitting and hyperfine coupling
•And/or charge and hyperfine noise affecting spin qubits
•And/or photonic quantum computing based on color centers in diamond
•And/or correlated errors and their mitigation in superconducting qubits
Your Competencies
•PhD in theoretical physics (or equivalent)
•Experience in at least one of the following research areas: condensed matter theory, quantum information and quantum computation, theory of open quantum systems, theory of solid-state qubits,
semiconductor physics, semiconductor quantum dots, color centers in diamond, physics of superconducting qubit
We Offer
•Vibrant research environment in our research group active in quantum information and condensed matter physics
•Embedding in department research environment with collaborative research center SFB1432
•Collaborative research within a research network including theoretical, experimental, and industry research groups
Applications and informal inquiries may be addressed to Prof. Dr. Guido Burkard, Guido.Burkard@uni-konstanz.de.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae (CV), brief motivation letter and statement of research interest, publication list, and contact details of at least two references. The application deadline is January 15, 2022, but later applications can be considered as long as the position is still open. We look forward to receiving your application via e-mail or via our Online Application Portal.
