Position Location: Biology of Aging Laboratory / Tulane University School of Medicine, 1430 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans LA 70112
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM but can be flexible depending on needs and circumstances
POSITION SUMMARY: A postdoctoral position is available investigating genomic and molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis and aging. We are seeking a postdoc with a strong background in molecular biology, imaging, and biochemistry. Additional experience with single cell assays and some computational background would be desired but not required. The postdoc will be responsible for projects involving single cell transcriptomics and validation of molecular mechanisms of inflammation contributing to atherosclerosis. Tasks include troubleshooting and documentation of transcriptomic-based assays. Specifically, pre-planning projects, RNA isolation, quality control, qPCR, protein assays and quantification, and immunocytochemistry based assays. The postdoc will also assess new technology in this area as it develops and suggest/make protocol improvements.
Qualifications
A qualified successful candidate should be self-motivated and detail oriented with a strong background in molecular biology, genetics, regeneration, or aging and have clear oral and written communication skills. Preferred applicants would be willing to work with and guide students, generate publications, contribute to grants, and work as a team to help with the day-to-day operations of the lab. Preferred qualifications include prior publications and experience working with primary cell culture and induced pluripotent cell culture.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent)
