Job Description
Postdoctoral position in Professor Tim McClintock’s laboratory on a collaborative project at the interface of sensory neuroscience and Alzheimer’s Disease. The applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a life science field and the ability to lead a collaborative project. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Desired expertise and experience include recombinant DNA techniques, immunohistochemistry, genomics, bioinformatics, and the biochemistry of neurodegenerative disease. The project is an opportunity to develop a robust line of research investigating mechanisms explaining why olfaction is an early symptom of neurodegenerative disease. Stipend is based on experience and competitive institutional guidelines. Possible start dates range from April 1 to August 1, 2023.
The project is centered in the Department of Physiology and the Sanders Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, internationally recognized for research in sensory neuroscience and Alzheimer’s Disease. These units are located in Lexington, KY, a small city renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere and availability of a myriad of outdoor activities.
