The Dr. Tian’s laboratory at University of Kentucky College of Medicine is recruiting a post-doctoral scholar for an NIH-funded project to study extracellular vesicle-mediated inter-organ communication in heart failure and chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity. Dr. Tian’s lab has identified cardiac-derived extracellular vesicles abundant with miRNAs targeting Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway contributing to imbalance of redox hemostasis during heart failure, and has been developingextracellular vesicle-based therapeutic strategies (Refer to Circ Res. 2022 Sep 30;131(8):687-700). The long-term goal of this research is to elucidate fundamental molecular mechanisms by which damaged organ communicate with remote organs by extracellular vesicle and develop novel therapies for cardiac-cerebral syndrome.

State-of-the-art approaches in the lab include in vivoextracellular vesicle tracking system, X-Clarity Tissue Clearing System and high-resolution confocal microscopy. In addition, the lab also uses diverse technologies: Cellular biology, Molecular biology; Proteomics; Transgenic mouse models of disease and human subjects. The laboratory is newly established and collaborative.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent with cellular and molecular biology skills. Experience in the neuroscience and animal behavior test is especially desirable. Successful candidates will be hard-working, highly motivated and team players.
