Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will establish and conduct lab research on sterols, focusing on metabolomic, transcriptomic and proteomic analyses. The candidate will conduct experiments to create genetic mutations in maize, including mutants and studying sterol gene expression in mutants under various conditions such as drought, cold, and salt stress, as well as nutrient availability.
Furthermore, the role involves setting up a root phenotyping system and imaging maize roots. The postdoctoral scholar will also be expected to write grant proposals and manuscripts, apply CRISPR-CAS 9 technology to interrogate sterols in crops such as soybean, and utilize AI and bioinformatic tools to explore the genetic regulation of sterols in crop plants. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the writing of grant project reports and the establishment of a laboratory, including purchasing and setting up instruments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative research in plant biology and genetics.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in plant breeding and genetics/plant molecular biology/plant biology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Real-time PCR.
- Experience with Molecular cloning.
- Experience with Statistical analyses by R and SAS.
- Experience conducting experimental designs.
- Experience with biochemical and antioxidant enzymes assays.
- Familiarity with the Python, Perl, Java, and SQL programming languages.
- Experience growing plants in greenhouse and field environments.
- Experience working with plants such as maize and Arabidopsis.
