This unique position offers a blend of advanced research in organic chemistry, catalytic techniques spanning homogeneous and heterogeneous systems, and teaching opportunities at the undergraduate level.
The successful candidate, housed primarily in the Jurca lab, will play a pivotal role in advancing cutting-edge catalysis chemistry research while contributing to the educational mission of our department. Responsibilities include advancing current research projects on the heterogenization of molecular Rh-based hydrosilylation catalysts, teaching a chemistry undergraduate student class, collaborating across both Jurca and Lee groups at UCF, and dedicated activities related to professional development.
Responsibilities:
Research: Conduct advanced research in the synthesis of molecular Rh-based organometallic catalysts, their heterogenization on solid supports, and applications towards hydrosilylation reactions. Teaching: instructing one chemistry undergraduate student class per semester, fostering a dynamic learning environment, engaging students in the field of chemistry, and developing their instructing practice for their professional development. Collaboration: Actively collaborate across both Jurca and Lee groups in pursuit of the research goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in organic, organometallic, inorganic, or catalysis chemistry. Strong background in standard molecular analysis techniques including NMR, FTIR, mass-spec, scXRD (not required but desirable). Experience in air-free synthetic techniques (Schlenk line, glovebox)
Preferred Qualifications:
