Overview
Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine is recruiting a post-doctoral scholar to study mechanisms of extracellular vesicle-mediated cell-cell communication in cancer. This is a two-year full-time position with an annual salary and fringe benefits.
The Lorico lab at TUN has discovered a novel nuclear transport pathway for extracellular vesicle cargo and developed novel inhibitors of this pathway. The long-term goal of this research is to understand fundamental molecular mechanisms of extracellular vesicle transport in the recipient cells and develop novel therapies for metastatic disease.
The lab uses a diverse toolkit to address research questions from cellular biology to proteomics to mouse models of disease and human samples. State-of-the-art approaches in the lab include extracellular vesicle flow cytometry, high-resolution microscopy and single-molecule characterization of extracellular vesicle subtypes. The lab environment is dynamic and collaborative.
Candidates should have a PhD with demonstrated skills in basic cellular and molecular biology techniques. Experience in extracellular vesicle biology, high-resolution microscopy, mouse tumor xenografts and/or cancer biology is especially desirable. Successful candidates will be hard-working, highly motivated and team players.
