Job Summary
A postdoctoral position which will study cancer cell invasion using a variety of molecular biology and microscopic techniques. They will also be required to work with laboratory animals (mice). Working with other members of the laboratory to prepare research publications and presentations is essential.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
EXPERIMENTS:
Perform molecular and cellular biology procedures including: PCR, plasmid preparation, cloning, western blot, immunofluorescence, and fluorescence microscopy. Maintain mammalian cells in culture including relevant techniques such as transfection and viral production.
MICE:
Support management of a mouse colony by setting up breeding cages, weening, and genotyping pups, and taking inventory. Perform studies which evaluate drug combinations in tumor models.
PROJECT PLANNING AND DISSEMINATION:
Participate in development of research protocols and overall strategy for research projects. Compose manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and present findings at scientific conferences.
OTHER DUTIES:
Attends regular lab meetings and meetings with PI, formats, and processes data, applies statistical analysis as necessary, reads and scrutinizes scientific literature. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university in biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other relevant field related. Experience working with animal tumor models and performing live-cell microscopy is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Willingness and ability to work with research animals
Ability to work independently with only general supervision
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete work and meet deadlines
Shift/Salary/Benefits
**This position is 100% grant funded**
Shift: Days; Monday – Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
