Summary
Postdoctoral fellowship linked to the CEPID Redoxoma (FAPESP). We are looking for candidates with an excellent academic curriculum, background in chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, pharmacology and related fields with expertise in biochemistry and physiology to study accumulation of lipofuscin in keratynocites in response to visible light (VL) and how this process can be avoided using extrinsic molecules and biological extracts.
The malignant transformation of keratynocites is not yet completely understood, and the effects of blue light exposure have been completely ignored.
[1-2] We have previously demonstrated that keratynocites accumulate lipofuscin and this process is somohow correlated with the function of lysosomes and the autophagic flux.
[3-5] We will use a combination of biophysics and cellular physiology methods to elucidate the inhibition of the autophagic flux, the accumulation of lipofuscin responding to VL, the signaling consequences in several cell models and test simple chemical and biological extracts that may inhibit this process [6].
